Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is visiting the United States from 18 to 24 September for technology discussions in California and the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week in New York.
The Prime Minister's office says the California program includes a visit to Apple Park and a meeting with Tim Cook. Discussions are expected to focus on child online safety and new parental-control technology that the government says was partly inspired by Australian reforms.
In New York, Albanese will lead Australia's delegation at the UN General Assembly's annual High-Level Week, accompanied by Foreign Minister Penny Wong. He is scheduled to deliver Australia's national statement and meet international partners.
The official program identifies digital safety, climate action, peace and security among the issues Australia intends to raise. The trip comes as governments and technology companies face growing pressure to manage online harms while responding to rapid developments in artificial intelligence.
