Australian children's author Andy Griffiths has been honoured with a new four-metre portrait sculpture at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.
The 3D-printed work, titled Andy Andy, was created by multidisciplinary artist Ronnie van Hout. The gallery says the playful portrait explores the author's imagination and the tension between his adult self and the “inner kid” that drives his writing.
The sculpture is accompanied by Brainstorm: Inside the mind of Andy Griffiths, an immersive reading space featuring objects from the author's personal collection and writing room. The program invites visitors to explore the ideas and everyday curiosities behind his books.
Griffiths is known internationally for humorous children's fiction, including the Treehouse series created with illustrator Terry Denton. The portrait and companion installation opened on September 26 and are scheduled to remain on display until mid-2027. Entry is free and bookings are not required.
