Three community-led revegetation projects across Cairns will share $50,400 through Cairns Regional Council's 2026-27 Revegetation of Natural Areas Grant Program.

Treeforce Association will receive $20,000 to continue planting native trees at Cattana Wetlands. Council says the work will strengthen ecosystem resilience and improve bird habitat at one of the region's important wetland sites.

Marlin Coast Men's Shed will receive $10,400 to plant native shade trees beside the Northern Beaches Bike Path at Trinity Park and Smithfield. The project is intended to increase shade for path users while adding habitat and improving the area's appearance.

The Agile Project - Wildlife Rescue will receive $20,000 for a second stage of revegetation at Bluewater Parklands, including restoration of former construction areas. Together, the projects are intended to rehabilitate public landscapes and support long-term environmental stewardship.
