India's Technology Development Board has signed an agreement to provide ₹130 crore in financial support to Bengaluru-based BigEndian Semiconductors for development of a camera-focused AI vision chip, the Ministry of Science and Technology said on 5 October.

The government says the planned VeerAI project has a total cost of ₹260 crore. The support is structured as optional convertible debt, according to the ministry. Signing the agreement does not mean the full amount has already been disbursed or that a finished chip is on sale.

The company aims to move its proposed system-on-chip from technology-readiness level five to level nine through further development, validation and testing. The initial application described by the ministry is camera and CCTV systems, with possible later uses in other sectors. These are development goals, not independently verified product-performance results.
