Visitors are being advised that the Mount Tyson walking track in Tully Gorge National Park is closed from Thursday 8 October to Monday 12 October while planned burns take place in Tully Gorge and Japoon national parks.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service says the operations are weather-dependent. It has listed the Mount Tyson track as closed for the period and asks visitors to observe signs, barriers and ranger directions rather than enter closed areas.

The agency says planned burning supports ecological health and biodiversity and helps reduce the risk and intensity of future bushfires. Travellers should check the latest park alert before setting out because operational conditions can change.
