NABKISAN Finance Limited has listed a social bond focused on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) on the National Stock Exchange in India, raising ₹180 crore. The company is a subsidiary of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

According to the Press Information Bureau, this is the first Indian social bond dedicated exclusively to WASH. The funding is intended to support access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene services in rural and underserved communities.

The issue was subscribed 1.8 times, according to reports from Rural Voice and Konexio Network. Those reports say the five-year instrument has an 8.10% coupon and is due in September 2031. The financing announcement does not, by itself, establish how many households will ultimately receive new services; that will depend on deployment and delivery.
