Early site works have started on Queensland's planned $60 million TAFE Centre of Excellence at Petrie in the Moreton Bay region.
The state says FKG Group has been appointed to deliver the facility, which is planned to include training in advanced manufacturing, metal fabrication, engineering, trades and instrumentation. An advanced manufacturing hub is also part of the proposal.
The site is at Moreton Bay Central, within walking distance of Petrie station. Queensland says it is the second of four proposed TAFE Centres of Excellence to reach construction, following work at Rockhampton.
TAFE Queensland says the centre is intended to give students and apprentices hands-on training linked to local employers. Early works are under way; the facility has not yet opened and future training outcomes remain to be demonstrated.
