A prolonged electricity outage in the Mildura area has raised concern for vulnerable residents, including people who rely on powered medical equipment and supported accommodation.
As of Tuesday evening, more than 2,700 homes and businesses had reportedly been without power since a critical pole was damaged at Birdwoodton on Monday morning. Network operator Powercor expected restoration work to continue into Wednesday night.
Authorities and support providers were checking on affected residents, including about 130 customers registered for life-support equipment. Twenty-four supported-accommodation homes were also reported to be within the outage area.
A relief centre was established in Mildura while repairs continued. Because restoration estimates and assistance arrangements can change, affected residents should check current Powercor and local council advice rather than rely on an earlier timetable.
