Punjab is expected to move into a mainly dry weather period from Wednesday, 30 September, after showers earlier in the week brought cooler daytime conditions to parts of the state.
A regional forecast citing the India Meteorological Department said no rain was expected across Punjab from 30 September to 2 October. The preceding outlook had placed six districts — Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar — under a chance of isolated light rain or drizzle on Tuesday.
IMD Chandigarh data released on 28 September showed Punjab's average maximum temperature had fallen by 2.1 degrees Celsius from the previous day and was 5.2 degrees below normal. Bathinda recorded the state's highest reported maximum for Monday at 31.2 degrees Celsius.
