Queensland Police have seized 558 non-compliant e-bikes and e-scooters and issued 2,486 traffic infringement notices during the first three months of strengthened e-mobility enforcement.
The enforcement campaign, known as Operation Surety, began after new laws took effect on 1 July. Police say more than 1,500 riders were fined for not wearing a helmet and 157 were detected speeding.
Officers also conducted 878 roadside breath tests and reported intercepting 68 riders for drink riding. A further 64 people were charged after new age and licensing requirements started on 31 August.
Police have urged riders to understand that e-bikes, e-scooters and other e-mobility devices are vehicles subject to road and pathway rules. Officials say enforcement and community education will continue.
