Two teenagers have been charged after a 25-year-old woman was injured in an alleged altercation in central Cairns on Monday night, according to a Queensland Police statement republished by Mirage News.
Police said officers were called to Spence Street at about 9:40 pm on 12 October. The woman was taken to Cairns Hospital with serious injuries. Four teenagers were arrested nearby; two 15-year-old girls have since been charged.
Police allege one girl faces assault and grievous bodily harm-related charges, while the other faces three common-assault charges. Both are due before the Cairns Children's Court on 21 October, according to the police statement. ABC Far North's Tuesday briefing also reported the charges.
These are allegations, not findings of guilt. The teenagers have not been identified, and the matter remains before the court.
