India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Pune Metro Line 3 and laid the foundation stone for further metro projects on 3 November 2026 by video conference, according to the Press Information Bureau. The government values the combined projects at about ₹21,800 crore.

Line 3, also called the Pink Line, is approximately 23 kilometres long and links Maan with District Court station, serving the Hinjewadi technology hub and Shivajinagar. The government said the line cost more than ₹8,300 crore.

The Phase II works whose foundations were laid comprise Lines 2A, 2B, 4 and 4A, with an estimated cost of about ₹13,500 crore. Those corridors are planned to extend connections across residential, business and technology areas. A foundation-stone ceremony marks the start of a project, not the opening of those Phase II lines to passengers.
